The past two months here at Grow ELC Killarney Vale have been packed full of special events!
Early in May, we celebrated Mother’s Day by inviting our Mums to an afternoon high tea! It was a lovely event and our mothers and mother figures enjoyed participating in some fun activities like scone making, having their nails painted, guessing games to win prizes and tea party role play.
As the month went on, we set up a fundraiser to raise funds for brain cancer research for Pirate Day with The Kids’ Cancer Project. We were so surprised with the generosity from the people in our community who donated to the cause – we went over our goal of $250 and raised $279! We celebrated by having a pirate day dress up party on the very last day of May. All the children came in dressed up as pirates and we engaged in pirate themed activities.
June has seen some fun and exciting events too! We had Grandparents Day, which every year seems to be our second most popular event. We had such a big turn out and so many nans and pops came for the event. During the event, we set up a nice painting pots activity which was very popular with our visitors. They sat with their grandchildren and their friends to paint the terracotta pots, dig and pour dirt and sprinkle seeds into the pots. We also played a game of shape bingo and one lucky pop won the prize! To finish the event, we listened to a story called ‘The Grinny Granny Donkey’ which was read by one of the Nans in attendance. It was a nice event and the children loved having our older community come to visit and play.
This month, our educators completed their developmental checklists and summaries for all the children. Here at Grow ELC, we do the checklists and summaries every six months to see how each of the children in our care are progressing in their learning and development. These help our educators identify what areas our children are excelling in or need help in their development. These checklists also help educators set goals for our children and help us plan our educational programs to help support our children in their developmental needs.
Lastly, our owner, Sussana surprised the centre by renovating our backyard! We were so excited watching the progress as the constructions took place, and now the yard is looking wonderful! The children, educators and families are thrilled by the changes. Thank you Sussana!
To end this blog, I would like to share some wonderful reviews we received via Google and via email this month as testimonials:
“We have been fortunate enough to have our little fella enrolled at Grow Killarney Vale, they have been amazing. We have seen so much growth from our boy since he has been attending learning songs, how to play with others and building his speech and communication skills. It can be difficult to find centres with good staff who care but we have been so happy with Grow, the staff are great and always engaging. They know all the kids well and always fill you in on how your child’s day was. If you’re looking for a great little day care then give Grow a go.”
“I just wanted to say how lovely all the staff were on ___ and _____’s first day at grow they both had the best time and came home so happy and excited I’m so glad I walked past grow that day super impressed.”
