It’s been a busy and eventful past two months at Grow ELC Killarney Vale, with lots of special events!
To begin April, we had our Easter Hat Parade which was an absolute hit! We had so many families in attendance to see our children march around in their special decorated hats. The march was followed by some fun table activities and free mingle, before joining in our annual egg hunt. Due to the weather being funny that day we did the hunt inside in small groups and this worked out well. Everyone had a blast that day!
Following this, our Beyond the Beanstalk Program commenced. This is a 10-week educational program that sees the Beyond the Beanstalk company come into our centre with resources and educational activities for the children to learn and participate in. They have used metal detectors, puppets, dug for treasure and used contraptions to blast objects into the air. The children are absolutely loving these experiences and are learning so much about the world around them with these scienced-based activities.
Our Art Exhibition Fundraiser was another great event held, and our first ever art exhibition. This event was held in the night and was a free to roam event. The children and staff worked together for 6 weeks to create a range of art pieces to show on the night and it was absolutely amazing to see what the children have been working on. All the art on display was for sale and the money raised was used to purchase the centre and the children a brand-new mud kitchen with a working tap. We teamed up with our local men’s shed, the Bateau Bay Men’s Shed and they helped us by making our mud kitchen for an affordable price. We were so pleased with the outcome and the children absolutely love their new mud kitchen!
After this, we had our annual Mother’s Day event. This was a special event to show our appreciation for our mothers and mother figures within our micro community. On the day, we had some yummy tea, pamper stations and a nice afternoon to enjoy together. We finished off the event with one of our mothers reading a special Mother’s Day book to the children and they all sat and listened nicely to her read.
We look forward to the months ahead to see what other FUNtastic things will come up!
