Learning Through Play: the more we play, the more we learn… the more we learn, the more we GROW! (By Miss Mel | Grow ELC Blacktown)

In one of my previous blogs, I mentioned about how play improves the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing of children and young people. This month, we learnt a lot of new skills and knowledge through our various play experiences, whether they were planned by our dedicated Educators or occurred spontaneously as initiated by the children on the spot.

In addition to extending our social, emotional, language, cognitive and physical development, we have also built stronger connections and gained confidence in ourselves via our achievements. We learnt about being persistent, not to give up when facing challenges, and to celebrate ours and others’ achievements. We also learnt that playing alongside or cooperatively with our friends helps us build on our confidence and gives us greater strength for achievement.

We gained more understanding of the importance and the need of supporting our friends when they need it. We know how important this is for their emotional wellbeing, and as for us, it’s another practice in that skill to become our best. With confidence we say that “we are stronger together than we are alone!”
