Collaborative Partnerships with Families and Communities: Special event celebrations and extracurricular experiences | By Miss Mel (Grow ELC Blacktown)

April has been a very busy, educational and fun month for our children, educators and families at Grow ELC Blacktown.

During this month, we celebrated Easter and invited our families to join in the fun.

Our educators organised 2 special days for families to take part in – assisting their children to make Easter Hats and Easter Baskets. Our children and parents were very creative in making their hats and baskets, and in displaying their talents during our Easter Hat Parade.

The highlight of this special event was our Easter Egg Hunt. Easter Egg Hunt. This year, our Easter Eggs had an activity placed inside them and children along with their parents, actioned the activities that they collected in their eggs.

Another highlight of this month was our Hatching Eggs Program. We received 11 eggs in an incubator and watched them hatch, eat, sleep, play and grow! It was an amazing experience for us all! As the chicks grew in size, our children grew in knowledge about the life cycle of a chicken. Our families were updated of every stage of our chicks’ life cycle via our OWNA Learning Story shares.

Collaborative partnerships enhance children’s inclusion, learning and wellbeing and such experiences gradually expand children’s knowledge and understanding of the world.

Kind Regards,
