Throughout May at Grow ELC Girraween, we celebrated Mother’s Day which was a success! The educators and children prepared a delicious morning tea for our Mums, which they enjoyed along with a nice cup of tea or coffee. The Mums then joined their children for some Mother’s Day activities, where they enjoyed making their own beaded bracelets and necklaces, love heart collages and hand paintings.
We followed up with International Family Week, where the children and educators discussed about different types of families and how important it is for parents and children to develop a strong bond.
The purpose of these events was to bring some benefits since usually, families are very busy and there is not much time for family engagement. We want our children to feel important, loved, and to have a chance to voice their thoughts and feelings. Also, for families to spend some time with their child/ren, and to observe and learn about their child’s strengths and weaknesses, which will in turn, help them to better guide their child.
We had some parent participation which was great to see, as well as the children’s joy and enthusiasm when their parents joined them for some family day activities.
